The Faculty Senate is the elected, official representative body of the Voting Faculty at the University at Buffalo.
It is advisory to the President and Provost, and works collectively with senior administration in recommending, drafting, revising, and implementing all academic policies relevant to the faculty, their interests and activities. These include: promotion and tenure criteria; the development of standards for nearly all aspects of undergraduate education, including admission, evaluation, curriculum development, and graduation; and the formation, reconstructuring, and dissolution of academic units.
But there is more: a glimpse at our several standing committees will give you an idea of the scope of our activities -- embracing academic freedom, equity and diversity, athletics, computer services, library resources, and community outreach, to name a few.
Feel free to browse our site and to contact us at any time with ideas and suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Hoeing,
Chair of the Faculty Senate
